One of the biggest days in the season is almost upon us, as Milano-Sanremo opens up the Monuments for 2025 this coming weekend. For Tadej Pogacar, the Italian race is one of the very few targets he is yet to achieve in his career. Could the winning formula finally be cracked for the otherwise all-conquering Rainbow Jersey this time around?
After defying a nasty crash mid-race to open his European season with a stunning solo win at Strade Bianche in his last time out, Pogacar insists he is now feeling fully recovered and is raring and ready to go once again. “I was back on the bike already on the Monday after Strade Bianche and had a couple of easier days," the world champion explains in a pre-Milano-Sanremo press release posted to UAE Team Emirates - XRG's official website. "Naturally I was a bit stiff and sore, but thankfully I’m feeling good again now."
"We’re coming into a really exciting period of racing and I’m feeling ready for Milano-San Remo. I know the final of the parcours really well by now and we’ll hope to light up the race on Saturday. Can we win? For sure it won’t be easy but we will give it a good shot," continues Pogacar, who will supported by an incredible strong UAE lineup including Isaac Del Toro, Jhonatan Narvaez, Domen Novak, Nils Politt, Vegard Stake Laengen and Tim Wellens. "As we’ve seen in the past there are a number of scenarios that this race can finish in. For sure we will have a plan and put ourselves in the best position possible. It’s a race we’d dearly love to win.”
