Milan0 - Torino 2025 could be remembered many years from now. Why? Because young talent Isaac del Toro took the first victory of his career in a classic, and after putting in a total veteran's performance.
The young Mexican wonderkid of UAE Team Emirates - XRG continues to establish himself as one of the most promising riders on the cycling scene. When Milano - Torino reached its final climb to Superga, Del Toro was in the group of favourites.
His teammate, Adam Yates, was in charge of accelerating the pace in the final 4 km, preparing Isaac del Toro's attack. And the Mexican did not fail. First he cut the group, placing himself at the head of the race with Ben Tulett and Tobias Johanessenn. Then, with 200 meters to go, he accelerated again, and neither of his two rivals was able to catch him.
After his victory, Isaac del Toro attended the press microphones to talk about what happened. First of all he could not hide his ecstasy for the victory: "I'm super happy. The work of the whole team has been fantastic. I really enjoyed this race. Woah, it has been very special", said the Mexican.
Del Toro then thanked Adam Yates for the 'assistance' on the final climb: "Adam gave me all the confidence. He did a great job during the climb. Thanks to that I was able to save enough energy for the final attacks. We deserve this victory very much," he explained.
Finally, he was asked about his feelings after winning the first classic of his professional career, admitting that it has come from the fact that he has started to be smarter in races: "I couldn't be happier for managing to win my first one-day race. I've finally started racing smarter. I'm very happy," concluded Isaac del Toro.
