"I'd have to go against my nature to have a performance that'd stand out" - Guillaume Martin prefers to maintain consistency over one big result

It was by no means a bad season for the 30-year-old Guillaume Martin, who was, among other results, 10th at Tour de France and 6th at Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Critérium Dauphiné. Now he's preparing to build on these results in 2024 he informs Cyclism'Actu.

"It's still a bit of a difficult time for me, especially with my knees, but everything has gone well so far. No injury, no illness, no knee scares, so 2024 is starting well, with big objectives in the second part of the season," he points to Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana at later parts of the year.

"To have a performance that'd stand out, I would perhaps have to accept having periods where I am less good in order to have periods where I am even better, but that is not in my nature," explains Martin what might be the little something he's missing to grab a big victory.

"You have to know yourself and deal with what you are," he continues. "I'm over 30 now, I know my qualities and my faults. I can try to improve, but I'm not going to change at all," he concludes.
