Away from the 2024 Vuelta a Espana, the
Deutschland Tour kicked off this Wednesday afternoon with a short prologue. In a display of dominance by
Lidl-Trek,
Jonathan Milan narrowly edged teammate
Mads Pedersen for the win.
“It was really important for us to start well in this race,” admits the two time Maglia Ciclamino winning Italian in his post-stage interview afterwards. “I really gave it my all. Mads was very close, less than a second. It was important for all of us. It was something different than usual. I think we have a very fast bike and we showed it. It was important for the whole team to take home the win. I would have been happy if Mads had finished first. We both feel very good, we will do our best.”
“The season has been really good, we achieved all the goals we had," Milan concludes, having also secured an Olympic bronze medal on the track at the recent Paris Olympic Games. "Now, in this second part of the season, I feel really good. We have to continue like this.”
