"I tell myself that I have had my time in the peloton" - Paris-Roubaix headliner Evaldas Siskevicius announces retirement

The professional cycling career of Evaldas Siskevicius has come to an end. He used to ride for the Continental team Go Sport - Roubaix Lille Métropole, but failed to secure a contract extension and decided to step away from cycling.

"I am leaving the world of cycling," Siskevicius told DirectVelo. He continues, "It was not necessarily planned this way. I did not know what I was going to do but thought about continuing for another year and quitting at the end of the next season."

He further added, "In the end, the bosses within the team decided that my career would come to an end. I had no choice, but I didn't blame anyone for anything, even though the final decision came quite late. I tell myself that I have had my time in the peloton."

It was in 2013 that Siskevicius turned pro with Sojasun. The Lithuanian time trial champion took second place in a stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné once, placed ninth in Paris-Roubaix 2019 and recently won the Tour of Estonia. In the near future, the Lithuanian hopes to land a job as a team leader.
