On a day marked by chaos on the roads of the Walloon region, Jordi Meeus (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) won the classic Binche - Chimay - Binche, taking his fourth victory of the season. Despite the multiple overtaking and the wind of uncertainty that reigned for much of the race, the Belgian sprinter was able to take advantage of the situation and reach the finish line in first position.
The focus before the race was on favorite Jasper Philipsen, who eventually lost contact with the main group due to a momentary split in the peloton. This left the door open for other sprinters, such as Meeus, to shine.
After the race, Meeus was quick to acknowledge that he saw a clear opportunity when Philipsen was left behind. "When I saw that Jasper was behind, I knew I was among the fastest in the peloton and that I had a chance," the 27-year-old rider commented in an interview with Sporza.
The day in the Pépinière region was not easy. Throughout the 203.2-kilometer course, the undulating roads of the Belgian region presented unexpected challenges, with constant attacks and overtaking that sowed chaos among the riders. The surprises were continuous, and despite the fierce competition, the race ended as expected: an explosive sprint finish.
In the final stretch, Meeus, despite not having the support of his team in the final meters due to difficulties on the cobblestone terrain, managed to position himself and face the last part of the race with determination. "On the last climb, my team kept me well positioned, but on the cobblestones I lost my 'lead-out'. Fortunately, I was able to find my rhythm and launch my own sprint," Meeus explained.

Meeus' win in Binche adds to his previous victories in 2025, a year in which he has demonstrated his great form. He had already won at the Volta ao Algarve, the Tour de Suisse and the Copenhagen Sprint. For the cyclist, this fourth win of the year has a special meaning. "Thanks to this victory, I can face the winter with a great sense of satisfaction," expressed the Belgian.
