This week's update features points scored in the stage races of Cro Race and Tour de Langkawi, the European Championships time trial and road race, Italian classics such as Giro dell' Emilia, Coppa Agostoni - Giro delle Brianze and Coppa Bernocchi - GP Banco BPM and the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro.
You can check the previous UCI Rankings update here. UAE Team Emirates - XRG is once again the team having scored the highest number of points, adding almost 1000 to their tailly. The dynamic duo of Tadej Pogacar and Isaac del Toro continue to be unstoppable, as both got a victory last week.
The Slovenian won the European Championships road race after a long range attack that none of his rivals could match, arriving solo to the finish line and earning 250 UCI points for his team.
In the case of the Mexican, he participated in two races, winning one of them (Giro dell' Emilia), which meant 200 more points. It was his 14th win of the season and fifth in the autumn Italian classics. He could not make it 15 at the Coppa Agostoni - Giro delle Brianze, but it did not matter for UAE, as his teammate Adam Yates got the victory there after Carlos Canal suffered a badly-timed mechanical.
UAE has now 37.741 season points, which means they have beaten their performance last year, when they finished with 37.408 units. It is a historic season for the team, which has already beaten the previous record of most wins in a season (85) set by Team Columbia - HTC in 2009, and still has the possibility to reach 100 wins in 2025, although it will be complicated, as they should have to win almost all the remaining races they are competing in.
Soudal Quick-Step obtained more than 600 points mostly thanks to Remco Evenepoel and Paul Magnier. The Belgian won the European Chapionships time trial with authority, beating pure time trialists such as Filippo Ganna and Joshua Tarling, besides of finishing in second place in the road race. In the case of Magnier, he won 4 stages in Croatia, making it 14 wins in the season.
The only change in the classification was XDS Astana Team overtaking Team Jayco-AlUla. The Kazakh team had a fruitful week in Malaysian roads, with Matteo Malucelli winning three bunch sprints before abandoning due to a crash and Aaron Gate also winning the last stage after a late attack.
Besides, Nicolas Vinokurov finished in fourth in the final GC. The Tour de Langkawi, despite being a less prestigious race, belongs to the .pro circuit (second division, just below the World Tour level), thus giving away many valuable UCI points.
Uno - X was also present in that race, collecting some points in the sprints with Erlend Blikra and Alexander Kristoff, who had to retire after a crash in the penultimate stage and could not reach 100 professional wins.
Anders Halland Johannessen was the leader of the team and he certainly delivered, finishing in second place in the GC and giving his team 165 points that help to close the gap with Intermarché-Wanty in their fight to avoid relegation.
Intermarché-Wanty, on the other hand, has barely been able to gain points this past week. With just 40 points, their advantage over Uno - X has been reduced to 890 points. Still, they have more opportunities to sum points compared to the Norewgian team, as they will ride stage races (Tour de Kyushu, Tour of Guangxi and Tour of Holland) while Uno - X only has one day races remaining in his calendar.
