In the absence of the likes of Mathieu van der Poel, Tadej Pogacar and Wout van Aert at
Gent Wevelgem 2025, all eyes were on
Lidl-Trek at the Belgian classic on Sunday afternoon. They more than lived up to that status too as with
Mads Pedersen soloing to a stunning win,
Jonathan Milan made it two riders on the final podium in the sprint behind.
Although Milan couldn't win that aforementioned sprint from the peloton for 2nd place behind his teammate, coming up short to
Tim Merlier, the Italian powerhouse was by no means disappointed with his 3rd placed finish. "We started with the goal of having a nice day and, as we said at the beginning, it was good to start with many cards to play,"
reflected Milan in post-race comments to the official website of the Lidl-Trek team. "I am really happy that Mads won and I tried to do my best in the sprint behind him but, I went a bit too early I think with around 300 meters to go."
