During his spell in Mallorca a talking point for Vingegaard was when the two-time, back-to-back Maillot Jaune winner at the Tour de France
was spotted with a new tattoo. Whilst the 27-year-old's fellow Itzulia Basque Country crash victims, Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic will return at the upcoming Criterium du Dauphine, Vingegaard himself will instead head to Tignes for another training camp.
“My hope is that he can train with the rest of the team when, after the Dauphiné, coming to Tignes for the training camp in the run-up to the Tour de France," Heemskerk says of Vingegaard's recovery plan in the coming weeks. "Hopefully he can be a full part of that team."
Whether or not Vingegaard will be able to keep his hopes of a Tour de France hat trick alive though, remains to be seen with Heemskerk unable to provide any clarity on the situation. “We haven't made a choice yet," he explains, refusing to divulge any details about Team Visma | Lease a Bike's plans for the 2024 Tour de France later this summer. "The most important thing for Jonas is today and tomorrow.”
