Jonas Vingegaard spotted training in Mallorca with a new tattoo

As usual for the not often eloquent Jonas Vingegaard, we haven't heard much from the Dane since his terrible crash at Itzulia Basque Country. The two-time Tour de France champion was looking to wrap up his, until that moment successful, spring at the Spanish WT stage race by challenging the likes of Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic for a prestigious victory.
His team Visma | Lease a Bike kept feeding us with sporadic updates on Vingegaard's road to recovery towards the French grand tour but it's third parties that often manage to dig out some extra information, just like in this case.
From the looks of it, things seem to be going in the right direction for Jonas Vingegaard. The Dane of Visma | Lease a Bike was recently spotted training in Denmark again, but is currently in Mallorca for a training camp.
While climbing the Coll de Sóller, he stopped for a coffee at the Ca'n Topa Cafe and of course it couldn't go without a picture with the fans he encountered there. "Super fit," he is called by the owners.
However what is more striking is what appears to be a tattoo on the ivory white forearm of the silent Vingegaard. Who would have thought that the timid Dane would sport a butterfly on his forearm? Perhaps he plans to sting like a bee and fly like a butterfly at Tour de France? We'll have to wait and see in July.

- Just statistically not everyone will crash the same amount for any given distance no matter the identicality of the riding/riders. If they would all start their career at the same time you’d not be able to predict who would crash least/most. There are so many reasons for crashes that you’d have to crash 20x to start seeing a repeating reason for being crash prone, and running into a car door or hitting a hidden bump whilst drinking with one hand don’t really count in tallying, these are just unlucky additions that happen to riders randomly after many near-misses they and every other rider have experienced.Mistermaumau17-06-2025
- Itzulia Basque COUNTRY is the top of ridicule. They are ultra-regionalists/nationalists, If you read, the streets are full of insults against Spain. In the past almost in civil war because they don't want to be part of Spain neither using the Spanish BUT using the English plus Itzulia (tour) would be ok... Craziness. The name should be La Vuelta del Pais Vasco (Spanish) or Euskal Herria (or Herriko) Itzulia.

- Nobody watches cycling for the cool names or beautiful clothing, look at the calendar to see how awkward names fit right into the scheme of the sport which should resist conforming to commercialisation too much. Football already ridiculed itself with selling stadium naming rights, these days we’re more and more overrun by people who think everything should be decided monetarily and live by the motto I’ll do whatever I want since I paid for it, total disregard for society or humanity in general.Mistermaumau17-06-2025
- Doubt it, it is “owned” by ASO since the loss-making newspaper group could no longer afford to stage it. Leaving the actual name presents a whole host of (future) problems, advertising, political leaning, copyright, reputational risk (could go bankrupt). - Yeah,let’s make it even easier for lazy people and just call it Tara. Most regions have a tour named after the region, many races are by departure and end location, I really don’t see why this one which fits perfectly into the “system” should be shortened, ARA sounds as uncommercial (in most languages) as Alula, nobody complains about the Basque race being called Itzulia Basque Country (and it’s already kind of sad they adopted the English as official) translated into Tour du Pays Basque, Vuelta Ciclista al País Vasco or Euskal Herriko Itzulia. PS don’t know your opinion on it but Gulf of Mexico sounds better than what is being dictated onto whoever succumbs to pressure to conform to whimsies.Mistermaumau17-06-2025
- If you look at how Del Toro answered questions in the following interviews, you can tell that he knows his mistakes, but doesn't want to acknowledge them. @WoutVanAert could give him a lesson or two in that [concerning Dwaars door Vlaanderen]. Del Toro never answered the questions properly - he focused on why he didn't ride in the valley. What we want to know is why he didn't work on the climb. He did actually say he was on the limit, but no-one believes that.

- It's been said before by DS'S, JV needs to prepare more, which was pointed out in the winter, not racing isnt a good sign, ok training is training but not racing for soo long...isnt good. I wonder if JV feels the pressure more than TP... like WvA doesn't perform as well with MvdP around.. when Jonas V has beat him, it's been mentally, predominantly

1. It doesn't appear to be on his forearm. 2. It's a butterfly not exactly a skull and crossbones or a tear on his cheek is it. Glad he's out on his bike though, yes.
Not sure he’s so timid either, pretty sure of himself and not afraid to speak up when he has to (but prefers not doing that publicly like some who seem to enjoy getting attention). Maybe he just doesn’t like being a socialite or media puppet, plenty of non-timid people are the same.
I hope he's feeling better and if his form is really good I hope he returns to the Tour this year. I really want to see Jonas, Pogi, Remco and Primoz going for it full gas.
It's hard for me to understand how Jonas can come back so quickly but I certainly don't know how he feels. Looking at Remco's data of late shows me that he is flying again, so maybe Jonas is as well.
It makes sense that Vingegaard grows wings. Soon he'll be flying up mountains again.
If he's not currently training with his team mates in Sierra Nevada right now then I doubt very much he's going to TDF.
Zeeman said very shortly after Jonas' crash that he would not be joining them in Sierra Nevada. They are hoping he can join the altitude camp that is scheduled for the Tour team after the Dauphine. In Tignes, I believe.

I think it's because while he's been training in Denmark, he has not been able to climb, and now he's obviously gone to Spain to try to test his climbing form. It's basically just one step closer to him finding out if he can go to the Tour de France or not.
I guess so too. The lack of certainties in TJV camp is pretty strange, these days, but given the amount of their key riders injured, it is expected
