A few weeks ago, the Giro d'Italia 2025 should have been presented with its route and the development of each and every one of the 21 stages of the race. However, the organizers decided to postpone the presentation to next January. In an interview for RadioCorsa, Mauro Vegni, the race director, explained the reason for this move.

"They will know in January; the presentation has been postponed to January. They will know where the departure will be and where the arrival will be. It's a special year, because it's also an important year like the Jubilee year, so there will be many surprises that will be revealed in January," said the 65-year-old Italian.

There were also rumors about the possible starting city and some of the cities that would host certain stages. There was a lot of talk about Albania, but the Giro director himself has come out to deny this information. Although he did not want to rule it out completely, so it seems possible that this speculation is correct.

"Of Albania you [the media] have spoken, we have never officially said it. This doesn't mean that it's not there, just as it doesn't mean that it is," Mauro Vegni told the RAI microphones: "The presentation has been postponed due to internal problems of ours, but it's not related to the issue of the stages, because in fact my staff is already doing all the reconnaissance; in fact, tomorrow will be the one in Trentino and with that we will have finished that part as well. This confirms that the Giro has been ready for quite some time."

Of the possible participants he has not spoken but names are also coming out everywhere. In 2024 they counted on the presence of Tadej Pogacar as a great superstar. Some have dropped the option that he will try to defend his title, although the theory is gaining more and more strength that he will try to complete the full of victories in Grand Tours with the one he lacks, the Vuelta a España.

The most talked about man is Jonas Vingegaard, who has "only" won the Tour de France twice and doesn't want to be left behind in the fight with his rival of the last few years. In addition, there has also been speculation that Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic could be there, which would make for the best Giro in some time.
