Israel - Premier Tech's DS Rik Verbrugghe has talked about the team's chances to take a second stage win at the
Tour de France, but also noticeably about
Chris Froome's ambitions towards the coming high mountains.
“This is something that you’ll see day-by-day with our strategy but we have two real climbers in Jakob and Mike who can do something either from the GC group or through a break,” he told the media yesterday.
Having a stage win with Simon Clarke in Arenberg already, the race is so far a success for the Israeli team. Both Jakob Fuglsang and Michael Woods have said goodbye to their GC ambitions and will be chasing stage wins in the Alps and Pyrenees, as will be Chris Froome who attempted to join the breakaway en route to Megève - a sight that for a very long time hasn't been seen.
“...Chris too, as he’s getting better day by day. I think that we’ll see him getting more active in the next few days," Verbrugghe said. A climber by nature, the Briton has seemingly gotten enough form to be competitive in the mountainous stages, and will be hoping to be a part of the race in the coming days.
