Former Team Katusha rider Alexey Tsatevich passes away at age 34

The cycling world mourns the loss of Alexey Tsatevich today. The former Russian pro rider, member of Team Katusha, has passed away; the cause is unknown at this time.

Tsatevich was at the time of passing only 34 years old. The Russian classics rider turned pro in 2011 with Itera - Katusha, and in 2012 moved to the World Tour with the team's Elite program. He had a few moments of stardom within the peloton. Although he only had three pro wins to his record, he won at World Tour level at the 2016 Volta a Catalunya in Barcelona ahead of a then rather unknown Primoz Roglic.

Tsatevich won Le Samyn in 2013 and alongside that triumph he also won a stage at the Settimana Ciclista Lombarda. Tsatevich rode the Giro d'Italia twice, and in his final season as a pro rider in 2017 he moved to Gazprom-Rusvelo where he ended his career as a cyclist.

CyclingUpToDate would like to extend it's condolences to friends and family of Alexey.
