In a performance that underlined his supremacy against the clock,
Remco Evenepoel claimed time trial victory at the 2025 European Championship in dominant fashion — and in doing so, completed a rare and remarkable sweep of every major title in the discipline.
Already the reigning World Champion (Kigali, 2025), Olympic Champion (Paris, 2024), and Belgian national TT champion, Evenepoel’s emphatic victory in France now sees him holding all four jerseys simultaneously — a feat that places him in a league of his own. “I’m very happy with how I felt and with the result,” said Evenepoel post-race. “Everything went perfectly.”
Over a 28:26 blitz across the course in Brittany, Evenepoel dismantled the field, putting 43 seconds into
Filippo Ganna — a two-time world champion himself — and 1:08 into surprise bronze medallist Niklas Larsen. For those hoping for a head-to-head showdown between two titans of the discipline, the Belgian’s performance left no room for suspense.
“The wind was strong — always in the face or coming from the side,” Evenepoel explained. “It was difficult to keep the bike under control and to take the corners properly. But we managed it well.”
A Sweep for the Ages
This isn’t just another title for Remco Evenepoel — it marks the culmination of a remarkable run of dominance in the discipline. With victories in the Olympics (2024), the World Championships (2025, Kigali), the Belgian National TT Championships, and now the
European Championships (2025), Evenepoel is the current holder of all four major time trial jerseys available to him.
While other specialists such as Bradley Wiggins, Tom Dumoulin, and the aforementioned Ganna have held multiple major titles at once, holding all four — from national level to Olympic — is exceedingly rare and underscores Evenepoel’s exceptional dominance across formats, terrains, and time zones. The question now is - can he also claim victory on the road next weekend?
