The cycling transfer rumour mill is spinning once again, and
this time it’s
Dylan Groenewegen who finds himself at the centre of
speculation.
According to WielerFlits, the Dutch sprinter is reportedly
close to leaving
Team Jayco AlUla, where he has raced since 2022.
The news comes as the sprint transfer carousel gains
momentum, particularly with
Olav Kooij said to be on the verge of signing a
three-year deal with Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale. With top-tier fast men
seemingly on the move, Groenewegen’s future is now firmly in the spotlight.
Now in his fourth season with the Australian outfit,
Groenewegen has already had many memorable moments in his career, including six
career Tour de France stage victories, one of which came just last year in
2024. The 31-year-old also posted a solid sixth-place finish at Classic
Brugge–De Panne earlier this spring and is expected to lead Jayco’s sprint
ambitions once again at this summer’s Tour de France.
However, Groenewegen is believed to have received attractive
offers, both financially and in terms of sporting ambition, from two other
teams.
Jayco AlUla, meanwhile, are already preparing for a
potential reshuffle. They are eyeing Australian sprinter
Sam Welsford as a
reinforcement for 2026. Welsford, 29, currently rides for Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe
and has impressed with his power and consistency. That team, however, is increasingly
becoming a GC focussed team, especially with Primoz Roglic at the helm.
