Dislocated shoulder for Primoz Roglic after disastrous crash at Tour de France

Jumbo-Visma looked for the most part of the fifth stage of the Tour de France to be in control, well positioned and with the firepower to command a strong strategy. However, all of it's three main riders had crashes or mechanicals, leading to a very complicated day.

Whilst Wout van Aert and Jonas Vingegaard managed to work back into the peloton in the final kilometers, Primoz Roglic didn't have the same luck as he crashed when his teammates were already chasing back, and consequently lost 1:55 minutes to the peloton in the end - and 2:08 minutes to Primoz Roglic whilst crossing the line.

Roglic crashed with 30 kilometers to go in a roundabout, where it is said that one of the race motorbikes hit a pile of protective hay onto the road, causing Roglic to crash alongside Caleb Ewan and Jack Haig. The Bahrain - Victorious had to abandon for the second year in a row due to an early crash in the race.

Roglic chased back with the help of some teammates to try and limit the losses as much as possible, but with a disappointing outcome nonetheless. The Slovenian dislocated his shoulder, and apparently had to put it back to place after the crash. Jumbo-Visma have confirmed that he will continue the race, however now with an important deficit over his own teammate Vingegaard and most other GC contenders.
