Caleb Ewan reflects on his Vuelta a Burgos stage win: "My legs were hurting but I still had enough to do a sprint in the end"

Today we saw a glimpse of the good old Caleb Ewan who has no match in short uphill sprints. The 30-year-old sprinter of Jayco AlUla did it once again in the Tuesday's stage 2 of Vuelta a Burgos.

"The final kilometer was super hard," he admitted in a press release. "They pretty much went full gas from bottom to top. My legs were hurting but I still had enough to do a sprint in the end."

"It was a pretty tough day actually, I wasn’t feeling great for most of the day, but when the final kicked in and the adrenaline kicked in, I started feeling good. I was really motivated to finish it off today, after yesterday I was pretty disappointed and I’m happy I could do it today."

Today’s win also catapults the Team Jayco AlUla rider into the overall race lead with three more stages remaining. His stay in the leader's jersey will likely be short-lived as the very next stage involves a double ascent of Lagunas de Neila which will be a bit too big challenge for the Australian.
