Broken collarbone confirmed for Oscar Onley after Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race crash

After an impressive showing at the Tour Down Under, Oscar Onley would've been hopeful of once again being in the mix at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.

Sadly for the 21-year-old Brit, fate had other ideas as Onley sadly crashed out and crashed out hard too. After being rushed to a local hospital, the details of Onley's injuries have now been revealed.

"After further medical checks at the local hospital we can confirm that Oscar Onley unfortunately has broken his collarbone in the crash at Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race," an official announcement reads. "Oscar will now take the time needed to recover before looking at a return to training or racing. Heal up, Oscar!"

“We’re all pretty happy with how the race went, aside from losing Oscar in an unlucky crash which was a real shame," added Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL's best finisher on the day, 7th placed Chris Hamilton post-race. "On a personal note, I’m really happy that I could be there in the final and be amongst the guys sprinting for the win. We worked really well as a team today, the guys were really on point, so we’re pleased with that. Seventh place is a solid result and a nice way to wrap-up our time here in Australia.”
