The 2024-2025 cyclocross season is well under way and we've got the start of the road riders now anouncing their cyclocross winter calendars. But the first big news don't come from the men's field, or the elite as a matter of fact - but instead from British junior rider Cat Ferguson who has outlined her path to the World Championships.
The Spanish team has confirmed through an official statement that it will make the jump to cyclocross, thanks to its star of the future in women's cycling: Cat Ferguson. The exciting new chapter that Movistar is about to star in already has, in addition, an established calendar.
The first race that the 18-year-old British rider will compete in Movistar Team's colors in the cyclocross season will be the X2O Trofee Herentals, in Belgium. The debut date will be December 14. Following that comes the Namur World Cup, and then a dense calendar all the way into the 2nd of February where she will represent Great Britain in Liévin - as an under-23 rider.
In a statement from Movistar Team, Cat Ferguson makes her first statements after the big news was confirmed for both her and the team: "I feel very fortunate to have the support of Movistar Team for this cyclocross season. The confidence the team has in me and the support they give me is reflected in their willingness to try something new this winter and take on the muddy fields of Belgium".
"Being my first year in Elite/U23, I'm excited to start racing and learning as much as possible, for now with no pressure for results. I can't wait for my first race to start next December 14 in Herentals - see you soon, Belgium!" concludes the Brit.
