It has not been an easy Giro d'Italia for Israel - Premier Teach. There are already four riders who have left the Italian race since it began, officially leaving the Israeli team down to only four riders to support over the second half of the race.
A disease is what leaves out a British cyclist who does not want to jeopardize his presence in the Olympic Games as he himself commented: "I'm very disappointed that I can't start stage 10. I've tried to fight the last few days with antibiotics to make it to the rest day, but I just couldn't finish with the sickness."
After the significant withdraw of Michael Woods earlier in the first week, the Israeli team loses another of it's cards that could pursue a stage win - although this time around, in the sprints. With this said, the Briton only featured in the Top10 once this race, with a seventh place at the arrival of stage 3 - the first bunch sprint of the race.
"With the Olympics ahead of me, the doctor has decided that I need to rest to get to this big goal," he explained. "I enjoyed the start of my first Grand Tour and hope to be back in the next few years."
