Brandon McNulty spent large part of this Paris-Nice in the yellow leader's jersey, but just like in UAE Tour, he eventually lost it. Coming into the final stage around Nice, the American held on to a tight lead over his compatriot Matteo Jorgenson, but in the end it was one year younger Jorgenson to bring home the title. Behind Remco Evenepoel, the UAE Team Emirates rider completed the final podium.
"It’s a bittersweet feeling- if you would have told me at the start of the week that I’d be on the podium I would have been super happy as I didn’t come into the race with the best feelings. In the end though when you have the leaders jersey you want to keep it," he shared in press release.
"I was just missing a little bit when they attacked and I held it for a while but then the gap just grew and grew and that was it. Jorgenson is a good friend of mine so if there was anyone else that was to win from the other favourites I’m glad it was him."
