With a dominant victory for Tadej Pogacar at Liege-Bastogne-Liege closing out the Spring Classics for 2025 last Sunday afternoon in the Ardennes, it's time to take stock and see who has been the most successful riders of the last few months in terms of prize money earned. Somewhat unsurprisingly, it's the world champion that leads the way.
Wins at Strade Bianche, the Tour of Flanders, La Fleche Wallonne and the aforementioned Liege-Bastogne-Liege, plus podium finishes at Milano-Sanremo, Paris-Roubaix and the Amstel Gold Race, Pogacar has brought in the massive sum of €107,250 in figures collected by Belgian broadcaster Sporza. In cracking the six-figure mark, Pogacar has completely blown his rivals out of the water in the prize money stakes.
In fact, only Mathieu van der Poel has managed to earn more than half of the Slovenian's tally. With victories at Strade Bianche, the E3 Saxo Classic and Paris-Roubaix, plus a 3rd placed finish at the Tour of Flanders, Van der Poel's Spring Classics sum totals €71,000. An impressive sum, although some way short of Pogacar's amount.
Looking further down the list of biggest earners, Mads Pedersen is the 3rd rider to claim more than €50,000 this Spring - €52,100 to be exact. Then comes Wout van Aert (€20,800), Jasper Philipsen (€16,375) and the trio of Juan Sebastian Molano, Soren Waerenskjold, Neilson Powless and Mattias Skjelmose tied at €16,000, with Filippo Ganna completing the top 10 of the list at €15,800.
Behind them, only four more riders cracked five figures for their prize money earnings this Spring. Tim Merlier took home €15,705, Tom Pidcock raked in €13,800, with Lidl-Trek duo Jonathan Milan and Giulio Ciccone earning €12,565 and €10,000 respectively.
