The
Tour de France will crown the winners of all classifications this afternoon in Paris but not only them. The elected best domestique and most aggressive rider of this year's race will also be climbing to the podium on the Champs-Élysées and this year they are
Quinn Simmons and
Ben Healy.
Simmons has chased opportunities of his own throughout the Tour on several breakaways but didn't succeed in netting a stage win. However his most notable work was as a domestique for Lidl-Trek, as the team chased breakaways on all flat stages in the aid of points classification winner Jonathan Milan.
Simmons spent many days at the head of the peloton and most notably, his work on stage 17 to Valence - the final flat stage of the race - was highly praised by his teammates. His leadout duties on intermediate sprints were also a constant throughout the race.
When it came to the most combative rider of the race there were strong contenders in Jonas Abrahamsen and Lenny Martínez, but EF's Ben Healy is coming away with the award. He has won stage 6, wore the yellow jersey and will finish inside the Top10, but the Irishman has another reason to leave the Tour happy.
After losing time in the first stages of the race, he then rode to a stage win on the sixth day of the race to Vire Normandie with a long-range solo win from the breakaway. He then attacked on stage 10 and jumped into the race lead with another successful breakaway.
On stage 16 to Mont Ventoux he tried to replicate the success, ending second on the day but climbing into the first positions of the overall classification where he would stay until the end of the race. Despite being in a strong position the Irishman still attacked in the final days of the race in an attempt to further climb up the standings.
