Alberto Dainese is on the hunt for a stage win at the
Tour de France, and he is leading
Team DSM in the flat days where he is yet to show a stand-out performance.
“It was a bit more relaxed day than yesterday but in the final it became chaotic again. We were together with the whole team and the guys rode really well," Dainese said after the finish. "In the last kilometres we were really in the front and avoided the crashes, so it was a good job. Romain, John and Nils brought me into a good position in the last corner," the Italian explained, however the outcome of the sprint was not the expected.
After failing to be in the sprint on stage two he finished seventh in Sonderborg, a decent result but one that will seek to be improved from the Italian - who earlier this year won a stage at the Giro d'Italia.
"Then I waited a bit too much behind Jakobsen and couldn’t really launch the sprint but the feeling is good so next time we’ll go for a better result," he concluded.
