Nairo Quintana, Richard Carapaz and Iván Sosa all figure in the list of recent winners of the Vuelta a Asturias. The small mountainous Spanish race is one of Movistar's favourite races in the build-up towards the Giro d'Italia, and this year the Spanish team takes Fernando Gaviria to the 2.1 race in search of a motivating win ahead of the Corsa Rosa.
The Vuelta a Asturias is coming, a race traditionally dominated by Movistar Team, which this year will also have local rider Pelayo Sánchez as leader (he won a stage in 2023). In addition, Fernando Gaviria will try to get a sprint victory before facing a Giro d'Italia that could be key for his career.
