Team BikeExchange - Jayco are saying goodbye to one of their most experienced and and knowledgeable riders, as Cameron Meyer announced his retirement from the peloton at the end of 2022.
“It’s certainly been a wild ride and a journey I look back on with the happiest of memories," Meyer said in a press release. "I cannot thank Gerry and Val Ryan enough for allowing me so many fantastic years as a member of the GreenEdge Team. I am very excited for the next chapter in my life and wish this team all the very best of success in the future.”
The Australian, 34 years old, has been of the country's leading figures in the 2010's. Having developed as a very talented track rider, having taken World Championship titles in the Points Race, Team Pursuit and the Madison, with a total of eight rainbow titles acquired, making him one of the most successful riders of the past generation.
On the road he's shown similar talent in his early years at World Tour level, winning the Tour Down Under in 2011, and throughout his career he took 12 wins which included two at the Tour de Suisse and two national titles in the road races, which came as his final wins, in both 2020 and 2021 seasons. He's settled for large years in a domestique role for Team BikeExchange, helping the team's many sprinters throughout the last decade to their own success.
