The transfers season moves forward, as
Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux announced a new signing to their 2023 lineup, as Frenchman
Lilian Calmejane into it's classics and domestic calendars block.
"I'm very happy to join Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert! I was charmed by the confidence that the team kept on showing in my capabilities for a long time, I had to grab this opportunity with both hands," Calmejane, currently riding for
AG2R Citroën Team, said. "From our first meetings, there was a clear idea about which race programme would enable me to shine," Calmejane mentioned within the team's press release.
The Frenchman signed with the team for two season, in which he'll be hoping to contribute to the success the team has built up over this year. Although he has not won since 2019, the 29-year old is a stage winner at both Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana, aswell as a whole eight wins in the French domestic calendar from 2017 to 2019, and will be looking to get back to his winning ways. He joins the likes of Rui Costa and Mike Teunissen from other World Tour teams, to make for an interesting set of signings.
Team manager Aike Visbeek has commented on the Frenchman's addition: "His experience will undoubtedly be an added value for our team, I'm thinking of our extended race programme on French soil. He'll be an asset in the finals of difficult races and he has proven that he can perform with regularity all season long."
