Allan Peiper is one of the most influencial figures in pro cycling that fans don't often see. Throughout the past decades he's been the manager of several World Tour teams, and most recently managed UAE Team Emirates - XRG during Tadej Pogacar's first three years in the team. He stepped away from pro cycling due to his battle with cancer, but makes a grand return in 2026 with...
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe.
"Allan brings not only a wealth of knowledge and experience, but also a strong sense of innovation and a genuine winning mindset – qualities that have also defined his personal battle against cancer," the team wrote in an announcement that comes as a surprise to the cycling world. Four years later, Peiper is back in the pro peloton.
"In his new role, Allan Peiper will work closely with Chief of Sports Zak Dempster and the team’s various performance units to further refine the strategic direction of Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe and strengthen its sporting philosophy".
This move is part of a massive staff overall the German team is undergoing for several months now, which has seen several managers and important staff leave the team to make room for more. Amongst those are team and national team DS' of Remco Evenepoel in Klaas Lodewyck and Sven Vanthourenhout, and Dempster himself who is perhaps the man who had the biggest say in bringing Peiper into the team. There is a strong effort to build a base for a super-team.
Red Bull aims high and prepares for it properly
In the
press release shared by the team, Peiper assured his readiness for the role: "I’m very excited to be part of this project. Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe has made impressive progress in recent years, and I see great potential to strengthen this structure even further. It’s about living a clear sporting vision and turning it into daily performance – that’s what drives me.”
Chief of Sports Zak Dempster, also recently brought in after his stint at INEOS Grenadiers, added: “Allan brings a unique combination of experience, strategic thinking and humanity. Throughout his career, he has proven his ability to shape teams and inspire riders. His external perspective will be a tremendous asset to our sports department.”
