Uno-X Mobility are officially moving up to the World Tour in 2026 and with this come some changes. In truth, the team will remain faithful with its block of leaders, but it could be on the verge of signing a new one.
Torstein Traeen could be the rider elected to fill position number 30 in the Norwegian team.
According to TV2, this is not a done deal, but it is not far from it. The Bahrain - Victorious rider has received a proposal to renew with the team for several more years and is also said to have received an offer from Team Jayco AlUla, but has not made a decision yet. Traeen can afford to wait and study the proposals closely however, as after this year's Vuelta a España he is an attractive rider for many teams.
The Norwegian rider, most commonly known for having survived and overcame a battle with testicular cancer in 2022, has been steadily evolving in the cycling world, and is a rider that has already left a mark. In 2023 he finished on the Top10 of a highly contested Criterium du Dauphiné packed with Tour de France contenders, in 2024 he won a stage at the Tour de Suisse and this year he experienced his breakthrough at La Vuelta.
Traeen rode to second place on stage 6 into Andorra and rode himself into th erace lead, which he kept for four stages. However this was not a fluke, and with a consistent run of climbing performances, he was able to finish in ninth place, confirming his potential also as a Grand Tour contender - who can enjoy freedom due to his current status in the peloton.
Uno-X sees Alexander Kristoff retire this winter but has six signing already confirmed, including World Tour riders Anthon Charmig, Alexander Kamp, Sven Erik Bystrom and Martin Tjotta - continuing the team's 100% Norwegian and Danish focus. Traeen could join also the two youngsters Tobias Svarre and Storm Ingebrigsten in 2026.
Traeen heroically held on to the lead of La Vuelta for several days. @Sirotti
