Lewis Askey has taken his second pro win today at stage 2 of the
4 Jours de Dunkerque, exactly one week after taking his first pro win. The Briton won an explosive uphill sprint and crossed the line with only one foot on the pedal.
Nicolás Alustiza, Victor Papon, Kenny Molly, Gorka Sorarrain and Nans Peters formed the breakaway on what was a mostly flat day which featured some small ascents late in the day. The circuit finale in Crépy-en-Valois was attacked hard in the final lap specially, with Riley Sheehan and Gil Gelders escaping the peloton there, but the gradients were not enough to seriously split the peloton and so a bunch sprint looked inevitable.
The finale was highly technical with a downhill section and a 180-degree corner inside the final kilometer. The uphill ramp to the line saw Lewis Askey launch an early sprint, and the
Groupama - FDJ took his second pro win a week after a similar triumph at the Boucles de l'Aulne. Askey won interestingly with one of his feet clipped out of the pedals at the finish line, but with the victory in the bag. Sakarias Koller Loland sprinted to second and Sam Watson was third.
