She is in a relationship with former pro rider Roy Jans. On the road she turned pro in 2020 and currently races for the Women's World Tour team Fenix-Deceuninck. She has experience in several high-level races but it is in cyclocross that she performs at her best.
Alvarado turned under-23 in the 2016-2017 season and was already a talented rider at this time, showing her potential not through victories but through a few strong results including a fourth place in the under-23 national championships behind only riders who are currently well consolidated professional riders. In 2017-2018 she was vice-World Champion in the under-23's only behind Evie Richards, whilst having many strong results throughout the winter.
In 2018-2019 she only raced in the under-23's at the World, European and National Championships - but she won the last two whilst finishing third in the worlds in Denmark. This was the season of her consolidation as a top rider and talent in the discipline.
In 2019-2020 she still raced in this category, at first winning the European Championships, but afterwards turned fully Elite and immediately won big. Big may be underselling it in fact. Alvarado won her first World Cup race two weeks later in Koksijde; won the Dutch national championships ahead of Annemarie Worst; and then beat Worst and Lucinda Brand once again at the Dübendorf World Championships. She became World Champion at age 22 whilst also winning the Superprestige and DVV Trofee (now X2O Badkamers Trofee) cups.
In 2020-2021 she was the woman to beat at the highest level. In this season however she was, finishing on the podium but missing out on the victory in all cups, but nevertheless winning the European Championshops in s'Hertogenbosch and the World Cup race in Overijse - among several other smaller-level races. The season was largely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, but it was a stronger Lucinda Brand that left her mark in the season.
In 2021-2022 Alvarado would have a very difficult season, failing to take a single victory whilst her results in the cups were far from what she had delivered in the past. 2022-2023 was a year of bouncing back as the Dutch rider won the Superprestige cup and got back to her winning ways taking all her five triumphs in races of this competition. In 2023-2024 she would renew this title in the Belgian cup, but most importantly won for the first time the World Cup, the final big achievement that was missing from her palmarès.
Dealing with a new generation of extremely talented compatriots such as Fem van Empel and Puck Pieterse, winning became a tougher task, but she won several races in the first half of the year which secured her the lead. She won World Cup races in Dendermonde, Troyes and Namur.
She began the 2024-2025 season with several wins early on in the year, winning 6 out of her first 10 races.
