Eli Iserbyt has had a very eventful season so far. Besides his win in Heerderstrand, he has not finished outside the podium in any race he's finished including the recent European Championships. But his disqualification in Beringen was a highlight, and then having beer thrown on him at the Koppenbergcross was another.
“Conditionally, I can be very satisfied. I think I still need one or two percent to compete for victory in every race," Iserbyt shared with Wielerflits. "Although I am already doing that, but there is someone better every time. At least, that is what I gather from the four races since my suspension". As has been the case in the past, the Pauwels Sauzen - Bingoal rider is focused on consistency, and believes that with a small form improval he can battle and take wins more often.
This will be what he will likely be doing throughout the whole season, with no real down time - unlike most other riders. Last year he was the winner of the World Cup and Superprestige, and in the fight to win the X2O Badkamers Trofee for most of the winter. Although he missed the first round of the Superprestige, we should see him attempting to do the same over the coming months.
On the beer throwing inside that he was a victim of last week, the Belgian also provides an update: “What happened there is the lowest and worst thing that can happen on the cyclocross. Then it is up to us to respond appropriately. I think that almost five parties have now filed a complaint against that person. A lawyer has been involved on our side, this is something that should not happen again in the future because it has caused a shock effect somewhere. That is why it is no longer obvious.”
