"We are now 1 and 2 in GC. It would be nice if we could keep it that way" - Jonas Vingegaard delights as Visma take firm grasp on Paris-Nice GC

With three stages down at Paris-Nice 2025, Team Visma | Lease a Bike are sitting pretty at the top of the general classification standings. Defending champion Matteo Jorgenson leads the way in the Maillot Jaune, whilst Jonas Vingegaard is closely following behind.
Team Visma | Lease a Bike sent out a real message to their rivals on the stage 3 team time trial, blowing the rest of the field away. Jorgenson and Vingegaard crossed the line together, gaining 14 seconds on the nearest GC challenger, Ben O'Connor of Team Jayco AlUla. “It was a perfect day for us," a beaming Vingegaard assesses in his post-stage interview afterwards. "To take the win and having such a strong team is just incredible. Everyone was super strong and did a great job, the riders but also all the staff and all the members of the team here."
As for how the Dane is feeling himself, the sensations are good insists the two time Tour de France winner. "I think the shape is pretty good to be honest. I feel stronger and stronger every day. I’m getting into the rhythm. It was the same in Algarve," he concludes happily. "We are now 1 and 2 in GC. It would be nice if we could keep it that way for the rest of the week.”

- All these ex riders give a brain dead comment now and then. Pogi is three time TDF winner, there are less than 10 riders who have done that. Its not a fluke. Last year he beat Pantani's record by 3.5 minutes. Thats not a fluke. Pogi and Vingegaard have nothing to prove in terms of winning the TDF. They are not one-off. - Neutralising was ok, there needs to be more discussion and guidance about it coming from UCI though so everyone more or less knows when and under which conditions it’s likely to happen. Obviously far more needs to be done with regards to communication. Can’t be that in an era where every rider has an ear piece, they don’t see the obvious practical solution.Mistermaumau13-03-2025
