Defending Paris-Nice champion Matteo Jorgenson has taken control of the Maillot Jaune at the 2025 edition following a flawless Team Visma | Lease a Bike performance in the stage 3 team time trial on Tuesday afternoon.
Visma proved a cut above the rest of the teams involved, eventually finishing with the fastest time by 14 seconds from Team Jayco AlUla. "I'm proud of the guys. We did it exactly as planned. I'm happy with the dedication of everyone," reflected the American in his post-stage interview afterwards. "We wanted to use our two motors Edoardo Affini and Per Strand Hagenes as best as possible for the climb. From the top of the steep climb to the finish it was as fast as possible with everything we had left."
In the general classification, Jorgenson now leads by 6 seconds from his own teammate, Jonas Vingegaard. "I hope I can defend the title. That would be ideal," concludes Jorgenson with optimism. "I will wear the Maillot Jaune for the first time tomorrow, because I didn't wear it last year. We have the team to defend it, as we saw today."
