Stage 3 of the 2024
Giro d'Italia belonged to
Soudal - Quick-Step's
Tim Merlier. The Belgian powered to the victory from a bunch sprint in Fossano, sparking scenes of jubilation in the team car.
Despite a thrilling late attack by
Tadej Pogacar and
Geraint Thomas throwing a spanner in the works, a bunch sprint was indeed the climax of stage 3. In a frantic finale, the finish was incredibly close between Merlier, Lidl-Trek's
Jonathan Milan and Intermarché - Wanty's
Biniam Girmay. Once the result was confirmed to have gone in the favour of the Soudal - Quick-Step sprinter however, the team car went crazy in joyous scenes of celebration.
