Disaster has struck for Remco Evenepoel on stage 12 of the 2025 Tour de France. With more than 50km still to go and Victor Campenaerts setting a reasonable if not infernal pace in the GC group, the Soudal - Quick-Step leader has already been dropped.
"You can no longer hide – your legs and your power will have to do the talking," previewed the double Olympic champion at the start of the day, and it seems as if Evenepoel's legs are not talking the way he would have wanted them to. With such a long way to go on stage 12, not only the podium but the entire GC could be falling away from Evenepoel.
UPDATE
By the top of the climb, Evenepoel was just over a minute down on the GC group, having caught and passed Maillot Jaune Ben Healy. As Team Visma | Lease a Bike's pressuring then stalled with the likes of Simon Yates, Sepp Kuss and Matteo Jorgenson all dropped at times, Evenepoel maturely worked his way back through the dropped the riders.
With around 28km to go, Remco Evenepoel then completed his incredible comeback and reattached onto the back of the GC group.
See the moment he was initially dropped in the video down below!
