The UCI points have been updated by Raúl Banqueri who has revealed the recent trend in the World Tour. As expected, Jumbo-Visma and UAE Team Emirates are dominating and topping the current standings in 2023 despite only being at the start of April.
Although it seems a distant memory, many teams have UCI points on their mind. UAE Team Emirates is a good example as they seek to be the winners of this relative competition - which in reality doesn't bring a reward or award alongside it. After huge amounts of points have been conquered by the likes of Tadej Pogacar, Wout van Aert and Primoz Roglic, both teams have started their year on a high.
UAE leads the rankigns with 7172 points as of the 31st of March, with Jumbo-Visma right behind with 7135 due to their depth of wins. Pogacar is the best scoring rider of the season so far with over 1800 points, followed by three riders of the Dutch team: Wout van Aert, Primoz Roglic and Christophe Laporte. Performances of João Almeida, Adam Yates and Jay Vine balance out the math however.
Soudal - Quick-Step, INEOS Grenadiers and Trek - Segafredo follow then, with the best having 4655 points - almost a whole category below. 16 World Tour teams currently fill the first 18 positions which will decide the new World Tour teams at the end of the 2025 season. Relegating teams Lotto Dstny and Israel - Premier Tech currently sit 8th and 14th in the standings respectively.
Team DSM is currently in the last surviving position with 2006 points, with new World Tour lineup Arkéa Samsic sitting first below the red line with 1769. The gap to other team then begins to be meaningful, with TotalEnergies and a surprising Green Project-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè following.
Sitting in 28th position is Astana Qazaqstan Team with a mere 491 points, sandwiched between Euskaltel-Euskadi and Burgos-BH. The Kazakh team has suffered heavily with the loss of Miguel Ángel López and so far this season none of it's leaders has managed to step up and bring in valuable points to the team.
