Mikel Landa has had a very successful 2022 season, finishing on the podium of Tirreno-Adriatico, Giro d'Italia and Il Lombardia. In 2023 he will aim elsewhere though, and it will be the Tour de France that the Bahrain - Victorious rider will look forward to the most.
The Grand Boucle will be the Basque rider's main goal of the season, he shared with Noticias de Gipuzkoa. With the Grand Depart in his home region and a route perfectly suited to the pure climbers, Landa is expected to be at the start alongside Pello Bilbao, both riders who have revealed their ambitions towards the race.
Landa has a track record of successful participations at the Tour, twice finishing in 4th place - including his most recent participation in 2020. He will be a main figure for Bahrain in the coming edition, specially after returning to his best level this season.
Landa has also revealed his expected schedule for the early months of the season which include participations at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana where he wants to start his season. Tirreno-Adriatico, Itzulia Basque Country and the two most difficult Ardennes classics - Fléche Wallone and Liège-Bastogne-Liége - are likely to be his races for the first half of the season.
