Jonas Vingegaard has broken through the Grand Tour scene in 2021 with a surprise second place at the Tour de France, but in 2022 has carried out a successful stint at the Grand Boucle to take the overall title over Tadej Pogacar. Should he come back in 2023?
Vingegaard has hinted that he wants to defend his title in France. However, neither he or any of the leaders at Jumbo-Visma have a set main goal for 2023 yet, as he, Primoz Roglic and Wout van Aert are all possibilities for the Giro d'Italia. Whilst the Giro features almost 70 kilometers of individual time-trial and a very heavy and mountainous final week, the Tour de France is exclusively favouring the pure climbers, with plenty mountain stages throughout the three weeks and almost no ITT kilometers.
