βThis gives confidence for the future" - Egan Bernal secures top-10 finish overall at Paris-Nice 2024

Egan Bernal continues to impress on his return to the top following that horror injury. The INEOS Grenadiers star battled to a brave 7th overall at Paris-Nice 2024.
βIt was a nice week. It was very tough, but it always is in Paris-Nice,β reflected the former Tour de France and Giro d'Italia winner in a post-race interview with his team's social media channels. βThe team did very well. I think we were one of the best teams in the race. We should be proud of our achievement. I felt good myself. Today I was better than yesterday.β
On a dramatic final stage, Remco Evenepoel took the win with Matteo Jorgenson securing the overall victory. Bernal meanwhile, came home in 9th, 2:13 down, alongside the likes of Felix Gall and Luke Plapp. Enough to secure 7th overall.
βThis gives confidence for the future. It's just the beginning of the season. We have to keep fighting," Bernal concludes optimistically. βNever give up, enjoy everything you do. Thanks for all the support!β

- I can relate but donβt think itβs such a big issue, here we have 10 teams within a minute of each other. Like every other day except the ITT, strong riders have to count on a team just in case, that collaboration/organisation/strategy is best tested during a TTT where there is no-one else to take advantage of. Cycling is always defined as a team sport, we should remember that when placing too much focus on only looking at the strong riders. Otherwise, help the Saudi start a rival Tour, solo no team (no drafting would make it too boring for spectators so not really solo). They will soon have plenty to invest now that LIV is dying.Mistermaumau30-01-2026
