Roger Adrià has won the first stage of the
Vuelta a Burgos 2025, beating Jordan Labrosse in the final sprint and putting time on the rest of the competition. Thanks to this victory, the
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Spaniard has also taken the overall leader's jersey and also - having shown good form - presents himself as a contender for the final victory.
After the race, Roger Adrià spoke to the media: "I already knew the last 400 meters and I decided to start from a distance and make the best possible sprint", he began saying about this final stage in Burgos. Jordan Labrosse took the front of the group in what was a pure puncheur battle, but in the final meters the Spaniard was able to accelerate and also take advantage of the absence of Isaac del Toro and Giulio Ciccone who crashed seconds before.
He then recalled when he came second in stage 2 of the 2024 edition: "The Vuelta a Burgos, which is a very beautiful and very important race here in our country, in the past I came second in a finish similar to this one and this year I was able to get rid of the thorn in my side". At that time, the 27-year-old rider was beaten by Caleb Ewan in the final sprint.
He was very happy and satisfied with the work done, in a ProTour category race, but with a list of participants somewhat higher than that of the Tour de Pologne, which is held at the same time and is WorldTour: "There is a high level in this race just before the Vuelta a España, it is always very complicated to win, so the victory has quite a lot of merit."
Finally, he reviewed the real objective of the team: "We have a very good block and I think that maybe even today and tomorrow were the least favorable days for us as a team because we have a very powerful block of climbers".
"Then we will see in the stage with the Orduña pass and especially the last one (stage, ed.) in Neila". Adrià is accompanied in Burgos by men like Giulio Pellizzari or Jai Hindley, who are clear candidates for the final victory and to get a good result in the next Vuelta a España.
