Jai Hindley successfully concluded the first stage of
Tour de France in the group of favourites which crossed the line 12 and 8 seconds behind Adam and Simon Yates respectively. More important for Hindley however was the fact that the Australian lost no time to Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, his greatest rivals in the GC.
"It was already a really hard first day. The boys did a great job to keep me out of trouble the whole day and I appreciate that. On the penultimate climb the pace was already really high. The Tour is definitely something different from all the other races," said Hindley after the stage.
