"The time differences are not too big" - Team Visma | Lease optimistic at Tour de Suisse despite late Wilco Kelderman crash on stage 4

Stage 4 saw the first mountain top test of the 2024 Tour de Suisse. In the end, it wasn't the best day for Team Visma | Lease a Bike as both Cian Uijtdebroeks and Wilco Kelderman losing time and the latter even crashing on the final climb.

UAE Team Emirates' Adam Yates proved strongest of the general classification group, finishing second on the stage behind Torstein Traeen of the breakaway but moving into the overall race lead thanks to his efforts. For Uijtdebroeks and Kelderman it was time losses of 1:04 and 1:13 respectively to Yates, leaving Team Visma | Lease a Bike's two-pronged duo in 8th and 5th in the general classification at the end of the day. 

"Actually, I felt pretty good today," Uijtdebroeks responds afterwards to the official website of Team Visma | Lease a Bike. "It was the first long effort since my abandonment in the Giro d'Italia. I feel my body is getting stronger every day. Unfortunately, I missed the power the moment Yates and later Skjelmose attacked. Despite losing a bit, the differences are not very big yet. In the coming days we will try to move up in the GC. It was very unfortunate to see Wilco drop out of the group of favorites in this way. He fought hard and made up a lot of time. We're both not in a bad position, so we can definitely do something in the coming days. The time differences are not too big.”
