If it wasn't for superstars Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard,
Primoz Roglic would've been quite possibly the best GC rider in the era after Chris Froome. The Slovenian has won five Grand Tours so far, but Tour de France may remain outside his reach. Does that bother Roglic? Not as much as we would think, explains his wife Lora Roglic Klinc.
"In the beginning, when we didn't have children, everything was simple. The victories followed one after another and then you think it will last forever. But it doesn't. And then over time you realize that it doesn't matter at all whether you win or not. Our lives will not end with the end of Primoz's career. The four of us - as a family - will stay together and that's what really counts," Primoz's wife Lora tells
Sportal at the opportunity of her second book getting published.
"The most difficult period for me was 2022, especially the summer," she confesses. "At that time, Primoz fell at the Tour de France, got injured and then withdrew. When it all happened again at the Vuelta – another fall, another withdrawal – it was really too much for me. On top of everything, I was pregnant at the time, full of hormones, a real hormonal wreck. That period remains in my memory very difficult."
Lora further reveals that the family doesn't even watch Primoz's races, except for when they're physically at the race. Sometimes, the commentators have select words about her husband and she doesn't wish to expose her sons to that negativism and pressure. The focus is on happiness with own performance. She explains why is that:
"Lev [older son] was happy after the time trial, where Primoz was 17th. For us, the result is never the point. It doesn't matter who wins or loses. The only thing that matters is that you try your best, that you fight to the end and that you are satisfied with what you have done. I try to teach my children exactly this: that you should always give your best and if someone is better, you should be able to acknowledge it and congratulate them."
