Tadej Pogacar is on stellar form following his win at the GP de Montréal, and he will have the solo lead at the upcoming World Championships where he will once again be a main favourite for the gold medal.
Pogacar has been announced as Slovenia's leader today. With the absence of Primoz Roglic due to the injuries he sustained at the Vuelta a Espana, Pogacar will be taking the leadership to himself. He has a strong track record in the one-day races which include aswell wins at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Il Lombardia and Strade Bianche. Last year, Pogacar rode to third place at the Olympic Games, and in Wollongong he will have a route very similar to Montréal where he just came off victorious after beating Wout van Aert in the final sprint.
Pogacar will have the support of Jan Tratnik as the most important weapon, on his best form Tratnik should be able to provide crucial support and also be in the fight for the top places. Jan Polan and future teammate Domen Novak will also be present, alongside Jaka Primozic and David Per who sealed their participation in the race. Another high-level absence is Matej Mohoric who is not yet back to form after contracting Mononucleosis.
