We now know how exactly the course of the 2024 Giro d'Italia Women will look following the official reveal of the route and profile on Tuesday.
Starting with a 14.6km individual time-trial in Brescia, the riders will take on eight stages in total, including a visit to Imola on stage 4 and a monstrously mountainous stage 7, climaxing atop the Blockhaus climb that will surely separate the Maglia Rosa winner and the challengers.
Changing the name from the
Giro d'Italia Donne to Giro d'Italia Women, the number of stages have actually dropped this year, from nine in 2023 to eight this time around.
Annemiek van Vleuten, the winner of the Giro Donne last year will not be present next year, having retired from professional cycling at the end of this year's campaign. Will Team SD Worx send the likes of Demi Vollering or Lotte Kopecky and try to dominate or will the likes of Gaia Realini, Juliette Labous and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig among others be able to triumph?
