Romain Bardet will be at the start of the Tour de France next month. The French rider has announced this via social media. It will be his first appearance in the Tour since 2020 and the news come after he had to abandon the Giro d'Italia whilst on tremendous form.
It will be Bardet's second Grand Tour of the year. Last month, the Tour of the Alps champion participated in the Giro d'Italia but had to withdraw from the race in the second week due to sickness. At the time, he was fourth in the general classification.
"Really happy to announce that I will be at the start of the Tour de France with Team DSM. I can't wait to be at the Grand Départ in Copenhagen in a few weeks," he wrote on his social media. Bardet will race in his eighth Tour de France, having done it eight years in a row between 2013 and 2020. He finished second in 2016 and third in 2017 in Paris. So far, he has three stage wins to his name, and will be looking to add more this year together with Team DSM.
