Remco Evenepoel confirmed for Giro dell'Emilia and battle with Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic

The Giro dell'Emilia will have a World Championships-worthy startlist this Saturday and will feature a massive fight for the win. Remco Evenepoel will be taking to the start in great form and will be fighting alongside the likes of Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic for the win.

Soudal - Quick-Step will be led by the Belgian but there are races that suit his characteristics better. The Italian classic will feature five consecutive climbs of the ascent to San Luca which is short but quite steep and explosive, not favourable to the Belgian who is using it as preparation for Il Lombardia. Evenepoel comes after winning the time-trial World Championships and finishing fifth in the road race.

He will be supported by Mauri Vansevenant who recently won a stage in style at the Tour de Luxembourg and will be well suited to this terrain. Jan Hirt, Ilan van Wilder and William Lecerf will be crucial support in this difficult terrain; whilst the lineup is completed by Fausto Masnada and Pieter Serry who will be important early in the race.

“Giro dell’Emilia is one of the most beautiful races of the month and we travel there with the motivation and determination of doing something nice," team DS Davide Bramati said in a press release. "We start there our Italian block of racing, which culminates next weekend with Il Lombardia – the season’s final Monument – and we are confident in our chances, especially as we have a team capable of featuring in the business end of the race and fighting for a strong result”
