Movistar Team has done a lot of behind the scenes deal over the past few weeks or months and it has now finally unveiled them. After the end of the season, there had been the worry that the Spanish team was going to be losing some of its leaders or important riders, but that is not the case as this Wednesday morning the Spanish outfit confirmed the stay of six riders on the men's team and three on the women's side.
Amongst these are Jorge Arcas, Nelson Oliveira and Albert Torres who form a key nucleus in the team when it comes to road captains, riders able to protect their leaders both in the classics or Grand Tours on the flat roads, themselves very talented riders for the fast and hilly terrain. But there are three more riders who are of great importance to the team.
Nairo Quintana has renewed for yet another season with the Spanish team. The Colombian veteran has not had the results one would've hoped for this year and is now very distant from the prime of his career, but maintains his position within the team as an experienced figure, and rider who can teach a lot to newcomers including Cian Uijtdebroeks who is racing two Grand Tours that Quintana has won in the past next season.
The renewal of
Jefferson Alveiro Cepeda is also important, taking into consideration his role as a stage hunter but also strong performer in the one-week races ever since joining the team, and lastly
Orluis Aular - both until 2028 - after the Venezuelan proved to be the team's new head sprinter, whilst equally being a rider who can climb extremely well making him a very versatile option all-year round.
On the women's side the team also renewed Brasilian rider Tota Magalhães all the way into 2029 confirming the team's long-term ambitions, but also Sara Martín and Aude Biannic to stay by the side of Marlen Reusser and Liane Lippert.
