The Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team have continued their recruitment drive by securing the signature of Thomas Gloag from Team Visma | Lease a Bike, adding yet another British talent to a squad that is increasingly shaping around homegrown leaders.
The 24-year-old Londoner links up with compatriots Tom Pidcock and Fred Wright, as well as Irishman Eddie Dunbar, creating a formidable core to support the team’s ambitions in stage races and hilly one-day events.
For Gloag, the move represents a reunion with familiar faces. He and Wright grew up just a mile apart in London, racing together in their junior days at VC Londres, while his U23 years with Trinity Racing saw him under the guidance of Kurt Bogaerts and alongside Pidcock. That environment, Gloag reflects, was formative: “It was so much fun being on a British team like Trinity. We raced the right way. I see that in Q36.5 as well. It’s not only about the riders but how you build that team culture.”

A career of highs and setbacks

Gloag arrives with a strong pedigree from the U23 ranks, where he shone in mountainous stage races such as the Tour de l’Avenir — even winning a stage and wearing yellow in 2022.
His early professional career, however, has been disrupted by injuries, including a fractured kneecap in 2023 after being hit by a car. Yet even after a year sidelined, he returned to win the queen stage at the Czech Tour in his first race back.
“I’ve had ups and downs,” he admitted. “I’m still figuring it all out, but my long-term goal is clear: I want to fight for the GC in stage races and eventually a Grand Tour. At Q36.5 I’m hoping to find the consistency that’s been missing so far.”
Team general manager Doug Ryder is confident that Gloag has the raw material to become a major force. “Tom has always been an exciting rider. Unfortunately, bad luck has held him back, but he has so much untapped potential. We believe he can thrive in one-week stage races and ultimately develop into a Grand Tour contender. With the environment we’ve built at Q36.5, I’m convinced his true capabilities will shine.”

Building a British-Irish backbone

Gloag’s arrival underlines the direction of Q36.5’s project. With Pidcock firmly established as team leader, Joseph Pidcock and Mark Donovan already in the squad, Wright providing strength in the Classics, Dunbar adding climbing depth, and now Gloag joining the fold, the Swiss-registered squad has created a spine of riders who not only know each other well but also carry ambitions beyond support roles.
For Gloag, it’s a chance to reset his career trajectory in an environment he believes can help him “keep progressing and have a clear direction.” For Q36.5, it’s another calculated step in turning a developing project into a genuine World Tour-level force.
